About Me

logo for website_edited-5I’m Mark Krause and I am a writer who loves to draw.

Plays include THE HAIRCUT, LEMONADE (2012/13 Woodward/Newman Drama Award, 2010 Yale Drama Series Finalist), WHAT YOU WILL (2009 Dorothy Silver Award),  THE EXILE and  THE AGE OF ANDY.

I’ve been produced, read and developed at theatres in the U.S. and Canada including American Theatre of Actors (NYC), Bloomington Playwrights Project (Indiana), id Theater (NYC), Seven Devils Playwrights Conference (Idaho), fusionfest (at the Cleveland Playhouse), Abingdon Theatre Company and Maieutic Theatre Works (NYC), Boston Theatre Works, Dayton Playhouse (Ohio), Theatre Conspiracy (Florida), Playwrights Theatre Centre (Vancouver), Canadian Stage and Tarragon Theatre (Toronto).

I’ve also been shortlisted for the Heideman Award, the Princess Grace Award, the Playwrights First Award, and the BHTG’s Harris Award, among others.

Screenplays include THE BOAT (2004 Nantucket Film Festival screenplay finalist).

My theatre cartoons are published in The Dramatist and on American Theatre’s website.  Other cartoons appear on the blog Extra Criticum.  The Dramatist also showed me some love with a kind profile.  Still curious about me?  Check out this Metropolitan Diary entry in The New York Times  and an essay I wrote for the (Toronto) Globe and Mail’s Facts and Arguments page.
